Born on September 6th, 1959, in the city of Curitiba, Apostle Sergio Castro is the pastor son of Pastors Joaquim dos Santos Oliveira and Terezinha de Castro Oliveira. He had his pastoral ordination on July 4th 1983 and on November 5th 1983, the same year, he began his ministry as lead pastor at IEQ (Foursquare Gospel Church) in Colombo – PR, due to the death of his father and pastor Joaquim.
He married in 1980 with Sônia Negrão de Oliveira, from this wonderful union Rafaella, the couple’s only daughter, was born. “My family is my gift from God, my precious wife Sonia Negrão de Oliveira, my dear and pastor daughter, Rafaella Negrão Martins, married to Bishop Marcelo Martins, who gave me two diamonds, Timothy Negrão de Castro Martins and Ana Clara Negrão Martins, my beautiful grandchildren”.
In 2000 Apostle Sergio Castro had the call to plant the Templo das Águias, an evangelical church he founded through an apostolic call to work in the expansion of the Kingdom of God, forming leaders and planting churches. Together with his wife Apostle Sonia, his daughter Rafaella and precious friends, he has been able to accomplish God’s projects for the ministry of the Templo das Águias, planting churches in Brazil and in the nations.
He graduated in Theology in 1980 from Foursquare Theological Institute (ITQ), Bachelor in Ministry Couseling in 2007 from Florida Christian University and Bachelor in Theology in 2015 from CESUMAR University. Trained at the (ILI) International Leadership Institute, where he is part of the faculty as a teacher. Apostle Sergio Castro is also an accredited Chaplain at Florida hospital (orlando USA)
In 2011 he was recognized with the award “Pablo Nerruda of Human Rights” by the City Council of Curitiba.
In 2014 he was recognized with the award “City of Curitiba”, for relevant work developed in the city of Curitiba in the social and spiritual areas.
In 2016 he was recognized with the award “PAZ Paranaense”, by the Secretariat of Justice of Paraná, as recognition for the works performed in public policies for the prevention and fight against drugs.
In 2019 he received the title of Meritorious Citizen of Paraná, by proposition of the second secretary of ALEP (Legislative Assembly of Paraná), deputy Gilson de Souza (PSC). According to the parliamentarian, the initiative marks the recognition of the state legislative power to the relevant social and ecclesiastic work inside and outside the church.
He is part of the managing council of the SBB (Brazilian Bible Society) of Paraná’s directory.
Every year he holds a congress called CONLIDER, with the objective of training, motivating, and capacitating pastors and Christian leaders. Since 2005, thousands of people have participated in this project.
Currently the Templo das Águias Evangelical Church has more than 30 churches, training ministers of the gospel at the EMITA (Templo das Águias School of Ministry) theological seminary, which has graduated more than 1000 students over the 16 years of its foundation.
